Do not communalize Arabic UniversityAugust 18, 2015
The move of State Chief Secretary to communalise the steps towards establishing Arabic University is condemnable. Remittance of Malayalees from countries whose mother tongue is Arabic is the backbone of State’s economy. Various universities of the country have already given prominence to Arabic studies. Arabic University is envisioned as a proposal that would help students of all communities pursue employment in foreign lands. The university was suggested by Paloli Committee which was constituted following the release of Sachar Committee report. The move to hinder the establishment of a university, which would benefit the whole state, especially the minorities, is unfortunate. It is highly condemnable that the finance department, which is always benevolent towards corporate development, is opposing the university by citing technical problems.
